Unidentified object observed at Bunker Hill AFB — future Grissom AFB, Indiana (1959)

Project Blue Book Case #6507. On September 13, 1959, an unidentified object was observed at Bunker Hill Air Force Base (later renamed Grissom AFB in honor of astronaut Virgil "Gus" Grissom) — a SAC installation in central Indiana. Bunker Hill's B-47 and later B-58 Hustler bombers were part of the nuclear deterrent. The base's trained crews could not identify the object. The case was classified "Unknown."
