Project Blue Book Case #6691. On March 23, 1960, a bright object was observed over Indianapolis, Indiana — the third Blue Book unknown from the state capital (joining Cases #185 and #190 from July 1948 and Case #7957 from June 1962). Indianapolis's twelve-year span of unknowns demonstrated the phenomenon's persistence across nearly the entire Blue Book era. The Crossroads of America, with its major airport and defense industries, continued to produce cases its aviation-literate population couldn't explain. The case was classified "Unknown."
