Project Blue Book Case #9345. On April 4, 1965, an unidentified object was observed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi — the second Blue Book unknown from the Air Force's premier electronics and radar training center (the first being Case #1987 from August 1952). Keesler trained the radar operators and electronics technicians who staffed America's entire air defense network.
The recurrence of an unknown at a base specifically dedicated to training people to identify aerial objects was significant. If any population was qualified to distinguish between genuine unknowns and conventional phenomena, it was Keesler's cadre of radar and electronics experts.
April 1965 was during a building period of UFO activity that would escalate dramatically through the year and into 1966. The Gulf Coast continued to produce cases, and Keesler's return to the Blue Book files after thirteen years demonstrated the phenomenon's persistence.
The object did not match any training exercise, visiting aircraft, or atmospheric phenomenon. The case was classified "Unknown."
