Project Blue Book Case #2224. On November 15, 1952, a bright object was observed over Wichita, Kansas — the "Air Capital of the World" and the second unknown from this aircraft manufacturing center in just four months (following Case #1739 from July 29). Boeing, Cessna, and Beech all had major factories in Wichita, and McConnell AFB hosted SAC bombers.
The repeat sighting reinforced Wichita's troubling pattern. A city where more types of aircraft were built and flown than almost anywhere else on Earth continued to produce sightings of objects its aviation-expert population could not identify.
November 1952 was in the declining phase of the great wave, but Wichita's second case demonstrated that the phenomenon persisted even as overall report rates fell. The case was classified "Unknown."
