Project Blue Book Case #1841. On August 6, 1952, an unidentified object was observed over Tokyo — the second Blue Book unknown from the Japanese capital (following Case #1340 from June 25). The date carries extraordinary historical weight: August 6 was the seventh anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
Whether coincidence or not, an unidentified object over Tokyo on the Hiroshima anniversary, during the same year that the great wave was sweeping both the United States and its overseas military installations, created a confluence of symbolism and Cold War anxiety. The case was classified "Unknown."
