Bright object observed over Pittsfield in central Maine (1954)

Project Blue Book Case #2974. On April 23, 1954, a bright object was observed over Pittsfield, Maine — a small community in Somerset County. Maine's dark northern skies and sparse population made any aerial object conspicuous. Loring AFB, SAC's northeasternmost bomber base, was approximately 100 miles to the north. The case was classified "Unknown."
