Union Cemetery in Easton, Connecticut, is one of the most investigated haunted cemeteries in the United States, earning a reputation as 'the most haunted cemetery in Connecticut.' The burial ground dates to the 17th century and lies adjacent to the Easton Baptist Church. The cemetery's most famous ghost is the White Lady, a luminous female figure who appears among the headstones and along Route 59 near the cemetery entrance. She is described as a woman in a white nightgown or dress, with long dark hair, who appears to float above the ground. The White Lady has been witnessed by hundreds of people over the decades, including police officers, firefighters, and residents. In one well-known incident, a fireman driving past the cemetery struck what he believed was a woman standing in the road — when he stopped to help, he found only a dent in his fender and no person anywhere. Ed and Lorraine Warren, the famous paranormal investigators, extensively studied Union Cemetery and recorded video footage that they claimed showed the White Lady moving among the graves. A second ghost, known as Red Eyes, has also been reported — a shadowy figure with glowing red eyes that appears in the woods behind the cemetery. The cemetery's haunted reputation is so well-established that the town of Easton has imposed fines for unauthorized visits after dark.
