The Sina Hotel is an abandoned hotel in Agonda, a beach village in South Goa, that is claimed to be haunted by the ghost of one of its former guests. According to local accounts, a guest died in the hotel under circumstances that were never fully explained, and the hotel was subsequently abandoned by its owners. Since then, locals and passing travelers have reported seeing a figure in the windows of the empty building, hearing sounds of distress from inside, and experiencing a deeply unsettling atmosphere when near the property. The building has deteriorated rapidly in Goa's tropical climate, with monsoon rains and tropical vegetation accelerating the decay. Agonda itself is one of Goa's quieter beach villages, popular with backpackers seeking a more peaceful alternative to the crowded northern beaches. The presence of a haunted hotel amid the village's otherwise tranquil setting creates an incongruous note of darkness. In Goa's syncretic spiritual landscape, where Hindu, Catholic, and animist traditions overlap, the ghost of the Sina Hotel is given a wide berth by villagers who may cross themselves, chant a mantra, or both when passing the building.
