Project Blue Book Case #1174. On May 1, 1952, an unidentified object was observed over Moses Lake, Washington — home to Larson Air Force Base, a Strategic Air Command installation that had already produced one Blue Book unknown (Case #2323 from January 1953). The Columbia Basin's flat, arid terrain and clear atmosphere provided ideal observation conditions.
Moses Lake/Larson's repeat appearance in the Blue Book files reinforced the pattern of SAC bases producing disproportionate numbers of unknowns. The case was classified "Unknown."
