Project Blue Book Case #2048. On September 6, 1952, an unidentified object was observed over Tucson, Arizona — the fourth Blue Book unknown from this desert city near Davis-Monthan AFB (joining Cases #384 from 1949, #2105 from September 17, and #1964 from August 24, 1952). No other medium-sized American city produced as many Blue Book unknowns as Tucson.
Tucson's extraordinary concentration of four cases — three in the 1952 wave alone — made it one of the most persistent problem locations in the entire Blue Book database. Davis-Monthan's SAC mission, the nearby weapons testing ranges, and the clear desert atmosphere all contributed to an environment where unexplained objects were both visible and concerning.
The case was classified "Unknown."
