Project Blue Book Case #1074. On March 20, 1952, a bright object was observed over Queen Anne's County, Maryland — on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. The flat agricultural terrain of the Delmarva Peninsula provided wide-open horizons and minimal light pollution.
The Eastern Shore's proximity to multiple military installations — including Aberdeen Proving Ground, Patuxent River NAS, and Dover AFB in Delaware — meant the region was overflown by military aircraft regularly. The Chesapeake Bay itself was a major naval operations area. Despite these conventional sources, the object could not be identified. The case was classified "Unknown."
