Bright object observed over Asheville in the Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina (1964)

Project Blue Book Case #8787. On May 9, 1964, a bright object was observed over Asheville, North Carolina — the largest city in the western North Carolina mountains, surrounded by the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky ranges. Asheville's elevation of over 2,100 feet and the surrounding peaks provided dramatic terrain for sky observation. May 1964 followed the Socorro encounter by just fifteen days. The case was classified "Unknown."
