The former Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania has been the subject of paranormal reports by students and faculty for decades. The building, which dates to the early 20th century, has served various purposes over the years, and its ghost stories are deeply embedded in campus culture. Students who lived in the house reported hearing heavy footsteps on the stairs when no one was moving between floors, doors slamming shut on their own with enough force to shake the walls, and personal items being moved to different rooms overnight. The most unsettling reports involve the apparition of a man standing at the foot of students' beds, watching them sleep, who vanishes when they sit up or reach for a light. Some residents described the sound of furniture being dragged across the floor above them, only to find the room above completely undisturbed. The identity of the ghost is unknown, though campus legend variously attributes the haunting to a former fraternity member who died in the building and to a construction worker killed during a renovation. Several student-organized paranormal investigations have been conducted in the building, with some groups claiming to have captured EVP recordings.
