Project Blue Book Case #1956. On August 23, 1952, a bright object was observed over Akron, Ohio — the rubber capital of the world, home to Goodyear, Firestone, and B.F. Goodrich. Akron sits approximately 40 miles south of Cleveland and 100 miles northeast of Wright-Patterson AFB, adding yet another Ohio city to Blue Book's hometown roster. Akron's airship heritage — Goodyear's iconic blimps were built there — meant residents were particularly familiar with unusual objects in the sky. The case was classified "Unknown."
