Project Blue Book Case #4543. On November 30, 1956, an unidentified object was observed over Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina — a major Military Air Transport Service installation handling cargo and personnel movement across the Atlantic. Charleston's strategic port and airfield worked in tandem to project American military power overseas.
Charleston AFB's transport aircraft — C-124 Globemasters and later C-141 Starlifters — were a common sight. The base also supported the nearby Charleston Naval Shipyard and the Polaris submarine program at the weapons station. The case was classified "Unknown."
