Rose Mont in Gallatin, Tennessee, is a Victorian mansion built in 1889 that has been the subject of ghost reports for decades. The house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features ornate woodwork, stained glass, and period furnishings that create a perfectly preserved late 19th-century atmosphere. Ghost Hunters investigated the property and documented activity that included unexplained sounds and temperature fluctuations. The most frequently reported phenomenon is the sound of footsteps on the upper floors when the house is unoccupied, and visitors have described hearing the rustle of fabric — as of a long dress brushing against furniture — in the hallways. Some visitors have reported seeing the apparition of a woman in Victorian dress standing near the windows of the upper floor, looking outward as though watching for someone. The woman has been described as having a serene expression and appearing unaware of modern observers. Other reported phenomena include cold spots in specific rooms, a rocking chair that moves on its own, and the scent of flowers in the parlor during months when no flowers are blooming. The mansion's well-preserved interior makes it an ideal setting for a residual haunting, as the physical environment closely matches the era when the spirits would have lived.
