Bright object observed over rural Newton, Georgia near Blue Book's end (1968)

Project Blue Book Case #12567. On November 23, 1968, a bright object was observed near Newton, Georgia — a tiny community in Baker County in the rural southwestern corner of the state. By late 1968, the Condon Committee had already submitted its report recommending Blue Book's closure, and the program was winding down. Yet cases continued to arrive. Newton's remote setting in the Georgia pine country provided dark skies. The case was classified "Unknown."
