Project Blue Book Case #1504. On July 20, 1952, a bright object was observed over Lavallette, New Jersey — a barrier island community on the Jersey Shore. July 20 was the first night of the Washington, D.C., radar events. Lavallette's coastal setting provided dark ocean views, and the object appeared on the same night that unknown targets were being tracked on radar over the nation's capital 150 miles to the south. The case was classified "Unknown."
