Bright object observed over Denver near Lowry AFB and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal (1964)

Project Blue Book Case #8973. On July 27, 1964, a bright object was observed over Denver, Colorado — the Mile High City at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Denver was home to Lowry AFB (an Air Training Command installation and former headquarters of the Air Defense Command), the Rocky Mountain Arsenal (a chemical weapons production facility), and Buckley Air National Guard Base. The Front Range corridor between Denver and Colorado Springs was one of the most militarily significant landscapes in the country. The case was classified "Unknown."
