Project Blue Book Case #2006. On August 28, 1952, a bright object was observed over Chickasaw, Alabama — a community adjacent to Mobile and Brookley Air Force Base, one of the Air Materiel Command's primary maintenance and supply depots for the southeastern United States. Brookley handled aircraft overhaul and repair, and its personnel were intimately familiar with aircraft of every type.
August 1952 was during the great wave. The Gulf Coast region was contributing a steady stream of cases, and Brookley's experienced maintenance crews could not identify the object. The case was classified "Unknown."
